Miss & Ms. Black California USA motivates women to strive to be their best and to utilize their time working towards a positive goal. We are dedicated to providing opportunities, personal training, growth and promoting positive attitudes and accomplishments in women who participate.

(1) PERSONAL INTERVIEW
You will be judged on: 

Overall first Impression Articulation
Intellect Grammar
Personality Vocabulary
Communication Personal Appearance
General Knowledge Current Events

This competition will help you to develop strong communication skills, composure and calmness that will be of benefit to you in job interviews or when talking with the press.  It should also encourage you to expand your intellectual horizons as you learn more about the world and your place in it. Miss or Ms. Black California is an articulate, purposeful, socially-conscious woman. 

(2) TALENT
You will be judged on:

Skill and Personality  Interpretive Ability
Stage Presence Originality
Technical Skill Execution
Technique Synchronization
Costume  Props
Voice         Choreography

Be original! Examples are: playing an instrument, singing, dancing, performing a dramatic monologue, poetry, gymnastics, baton twirling, karate, etc.  Please remember that this is not American Idol.  If you do not have a talent, cultivate one.  Find someone to teach you to play a song, or to perform a dance, or anything that might interest you. 

(3) SWIMSUIT
MISS CONTESTANTS ONLY
You will be judged on:

Poise Posture
Grace of carriage Composure
Confidence on Stage Perseverance
SPACE
Discipline to maintain a physically fit and healthy physique
Proportioned body with Muscular Development
Weight appropriate for height and bone structure
Attractiveness of Face and Figure

(3) MODEL WEAR
MS. CONTESTANTS ONLY
You will be judged on:

Poise Posture
Grace of carriage Composure
Confidence on Stage Perseverance

You will need an outfit that expresses your individuality and compliments your physical style.  This is attire that you would not wear everyday.  It is an elaborate expression of your individuality and uniqueness.

(4) ON-STAGE SPEECH
You will be judged on:

Stage presence Passion
Articulation Creativity
Context Purposeful Movement
SPACE
Ability to capture the audience’s attention

The ONSTAGE SPEECH allows you to extend your personality, express your beliefs and defend them well and logically.  It is your opportunity to address the world.

(5) EVENING GOWN
You will be judged on:

Perception Confidence
Personality Warmth
Grace in movement Poise & Dignity
SPACE
Appropriateness of gown as a statement of your individuality

(6) LEADERSHIP/ENTREPRENEURSHIP
You will be judged on:

Ability to meet deadlines Punctuality
Perfect Attendance Fulfilling Ad Requirement
Preparation Fulfilling Ticket Requirement
Completing all assignments Peer Respect

This competition focuses on making you a better person overall.  Many times, women are able to pull it together for the competition, but are not held accountable for their actions during THE PROCESS.  It is imperative that the person who captures the title will be quite simply a great person to work with.
