Ms. Black California USA 2005, Isis Mckenzie. There are very few women of courage, determination, principles, intelligence, and beauty. The few that do exist are loved and respected by many. Isis McKenzie, Ms. Black California USA is one of those phenomenal women. Isis gained her enormous strength and fortitude from the loving support of her family and loved ones.  Her father (Elliott McKenzie Jr.) was her philosopher, guide and mentor. His guidance and encouragement has paved the way for Isis to pursue her goals with grit, focus and diligence.  Following the example of her father, Isis will be the second one in her family to complete a Masters Degree.  There is little wonder then that Isis is a champion in the field of higher education.  She plans to utilize her Masters degree to help others aspire and reach their goals while pursuing and succeeding in her career as an actress and a television broadcaster.

Isis was born in Watts, California. She moved to North Hollywood by the time she was 6 1⁄2, and later set up residency in the city of Rancho Cucamonga.  At the age of 14, Isis had the opportunity to experience the lifestyle of living in the ghetto, the city, and the suburbs. Throughout her childhood, Isis has struggled with social acceptance being African American living in a predominantly Caucasian community. Based on that experience she has grown to be a strong advocate for social acceptance of all ethnicities, and embracing different cultures. Isis is the eldest of three siblings, with a brother who is 21 years old, and a sister who is 19 years old. Isis has visited several different countries and states such as Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Washington D.C., Virginia, Oklahoma, Hawaii, London, Holland, Germany, Italy, France, Sweden, Spain, and Mexico. Currently, she works as a Public Relations Coordinator for a reputed University.

Isis has been working in the education field all of her adult life. She was once an educator for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She worked with Special Ed students, and taught performing arts. In addition to working in education, Isis has spent a great deal of her time preparing for a career as an actress. In fact, she has started her own television production company (Mighty Isis Productions).  Presently her company is at the threshold of blossoming into a highly successful business venture.

When Isis is not working as an Educator or in Public Relations, she is enhancing her craft as an actress, building on her portfolio for her company, traveling, spending quality time with her friends and family, volunteering in her community and within the entertainment industry.

There are so many other minor activities that Isis does that collectively keep her extremely busy. According to Isis, it is the effort and dedication of teamwork that she shares with her family, colleagues, and friends along with God’s miraculous blessings that have helped her to endure all the trials and tribulations she has encountered up until this point.  Isis is struck with awe at her amazing journey through life and is looking forward with eager anticipation at fulfilling her glorious destiny.

It is her expectation to reach as many young adults and children and give them hope and guidance in accomplishing their goals in life through her influence as an actress, and her direct assistance as an educator. Though many have harkened her to another career or profession, Isis has never wavered from her love of acting, broadcasting and helping/mentoring young people.  She has stood by her strong convictions and knows with absolute certainty that her determination and hard work will lead her to enjoy immense success.  “Where there is a will there is a way” is her motto in life and she has spread this message to others, especially among the youth and women of all ages and ethnicities. 

Isis believes that as a result of her past, present and the promise of a successful future and leadership abilities she has and will continue to succeed in helping, supporting, guiding, and motivating young adults and children in turning their dreams into attainable goals. She is a firm believer in the fact that if you work hard and pursue your goals, dreams do come true.

Isis McKenzie, Ms. Black California USA is the embodiment of today’s modern woman.  A woman of strength, beauty and intelligence, and a phenomenal leader of our future.
